About the Peoples' Artists Network

In the face of brutal and relentless aggression by imperialist forces, the erosion of civil liberties, global domination of capitalist economy, attacks on national and social liberation movements, forced mass migrations of people due to wars, environmental destruction, and economic deprivation, it is crucial to develop a global artists network that connects artists from ghettos, barrios, indigenous sovereignty and national liberation movements around the world- a network that can strengthen and support artists and the struggles of their communities. Artists can play vital roles in bringing the faces and voices of those movements into the spotlight.

Born in October 2006 out of the need to connect art and artists with the struggles of peoples around the world, People’s Artists Network strives to create a sphere where artists can:

• Come together to connect and support each other,
• Mobilize their knowledge, skills and artistic creations to empower the masses,
• Reclaim art out of the hands of the wealthy and academic, and
• Proudly shout, “Culture is born of the people and we all shall play a part in it!”

PAN aims to connect with communities through as many channels as possible, creating a vibrant network where the transforming power of art is constantly transmitted throughout all disciplines and communities. PAN welcomes artists from all disciplines, regardless of their levels of education, knowledge, and skill. Everybody has something teach and something to learn.
